The line opened in 1891. A succession of magnificent views and fine man-made structures line the route of the Train de l’Ardèche, a genuine historical and cultural heritage. Passengers will have both the pleasure and the privilege of travelling in carriages pulled by locomotives which are almost all listed historical “monuments”.

The Doux, tributary of the right bank of the Rhône, has cut deep gorges into the Ardèche plateau.
